About Us
Jonathan and Cynthia began farming in Indiana. They both enjoy the great outdoors, creation care, and life in nature; thus, dreaming towards the day of living outside the city.
Their first property was a 10-acre parcel which was envisioned as a retreat center in nature. However, this property was covered in poison ivy, which both are extremely allergic to. Whilst trying to find a solution to remove the poison ivy, they discovered a lot of the quick solutions would harm some of the animals they housed, such as their family dogs and newly stocked ponds. Still trying to find a solution that would not harm the animals, they stumbled across an article that suggested goats as a remedy to their problem.
Discovering this, Johnathan and Cynthia researched which breed of goat would best suit their needs. It was not an easy task as there are so many breeds to choose from and things to take into consideration were their temperament, required experience level, etc. Until one day, Cynthia discovered The Livestock Conservancy. Through this organization, Cynthia was able to choose goats that would succeed on her farm and at the same time, especially for a novice rancher. From this, she learnt more about endangered livestock in the United States and so began their passion of conserving various breeds.
Because of this, Cynthia and Johnathan became active members of The Livestock Conservancy in which their focus is to also raise awareness of endangered breeds that face extinction and to increase the population of the livestock found on the list.
Since then, Cynthia and Johnathan relocated to Texas and expanded their livestock at Great and Small Creatures such as sheep, chickens, ducks, the Texas Longhorns, mammoth donkeys, and Meishan pigs.
